  • 2 tbsp Diced White Onion
  • 1/2 cup Bourbon Whiskey I like Markers Mark or Woodford Reserve personally.
  • 1/3 cup Ketchup
  • 1/3 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1/4 cup Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 1/2 tsp Liquid Smoke
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil

Instructions

Chicken Wings

  • Preheat oven to 280 degrees. Cut wings into drums and flats. Pat dry well to remove any water or moisture.
  • Place baking powder (NOT BAKING SODA!) and salt into a bowl. Add wings and mix till covered on all sides. Place wings on a cooling rack on top of a baking sheet.
  • Place in oven for 30 minutes at 280 degrees then 40 minutes at 425 degrees. (Might seem odd, but this is what makes them super crispy)

Bourbon BBQ Sauce

  • Place a medium pot on medium heat. Drizzle olive oil in the pot and add garlic and onions. Stir till translucence. Add Bourbon, stir and let simmer to it reduces to a thick consistency.
  • Add remaining ingredients (Ketchup, Brown Sugar, Vinegar, Worcestershire Sauce, Liquid Smoke, Black Pepper, and salt.. (Not listed here, but if you would like to turn up the heat, add some cayenne pepper) Let simmer for about 5 minutes
  • Place wings in a bowl, pour sauce and mix to cover wings.

Veggie Football Field

  • Take about 4 whole large size carrots and peel. Cut the ends off. Cut up from the base of a about 3 inches. Split in half the long way.
  • Use the middle of a carrot creating a section about 4 inches long, cut in half the long ways. (This will be the horizontal part of the goal post)  Do the same with the end of two carrots about 4 inches long as well. (These will be the vertical pieces of the post)
    Football Field Goal Base
  • Cut a hole in the middle of the base pieces by using a knife and twisting. Create three holes on the horizontal piece. One on each end and one in the middle.
  • Taper the goal post vertical members on each side and cut a short piece of carrot to connect the horizontal piece to the base. Taper both sides as well and then insert into the holes.
  • Repeat process for the second goal post. Place each goal post at the end of the plate. Add peeled cut celery around the outside. Serve dipping sauce in the middle such as ranch and place wings.

Notes

Make sure to use Baking Powder and not Baking Soda.

  1. Cute idea with the veggies. Wings were great but I ended up doubling the sauce for about 30 wings. Would make again!
